Adolf Horstmann

Adolf Horstmann

from $16.00

Type: Hybrid Tea

Brand: Kordes

Introduced in 1971, Adolf Horstmann is one of the earlier Kordes bred roses. It is much prized for its strong perfume and stunning yellow/peach colouring. It features large blooms on a strong, hardy and healthy plant.

Preferring a position in full sun, Adolf Horstmann produces a large flower, similar in shape to a peony. It is multi-coloured, blending from a bright golden yellow at the centre to a salmon-pink flush at the edges. Adolf Horstmann is a popular cut-flower because of its long stems and unusual colour.

“Adolf Horstmann” was named after a friend and colleague of third-generation rose breeder, Reimer Kordes. The Kordes family has been growing and breeding roses in Germany since 1887. Kordes Roses are responsible for breeding a number of ‘superstar’ roses. The family tradition continues with the fifth generation of the Kordes family now working in this remarkably successful and historic business which supplies roses to over 30 countries.

It’s the perfect rose to give to someone who’s inspired or supported you.

Adolf Horstmann blooms are a classic tea-cup shape with goblet-shaped buds which open into large flowers with many petals forming the central cone

Potted Rose Supplied in Plastic Pot or Gro Bag. May be supplied as a recently potted dormant plant during Winter while into Spring and Summer will be well-established and possibly flowering. A potted rose will be settled long enough to establish that it has a good survival rate. Protect from frost and keep well watered.

Bare-Root Rose will be supplied only in damp paper with sawdust, spaghnum or peat moss and as the name suggests with bare roots ready to plant and must be planted immediately after soaking for 24 hours after arrival. Bare-root roses have more risk of non-survival than a potted rose and generally one would expect 80-90% survival rates.

Water well and often with no fertilisers at planting for approx. 3 weeks until established.
