Abracadabra

Type: Hybrid Tea

Brand: Kordes

If you’re looking for a rose with the ‘wow’ factor, this is it!
Abracadabra is a stunning maroon coloured rose with almost magical yellow ribbons running along its petals. To add to the enchantment, every petal is unique and abracadabra it seems to change colours too!

Pre-order well in advance to secure this variety. Not many produced and it's always extremely popular

Health of this plant: Not bad if you get a good one. Tends to be short lived and has to have exactly the right position and a high level of care. My pet name is a drop dead rose; ie. drop dead gorgeous but they drop dead at anytime for no apparent reason. It's also known in the industry as unstable, meaning abracadabra, one day it will be striped, then pink, yellow, almost black. An absolutely unique and stunning rose that is a must have if you want something different but do expect a fuss pot.

Health: Poor to Average; in the right spot this rose will do ok. She's a fuss pot.

Comment: Bit of a fuss pot. Doesn’t like crowds; needs it’s own space and just the right spot. Full sun, but not too hot. Enough moisture but not too much. Not keen on humidity. Touch of condies crystals to a full bucket of water; very light pink will bring out the best of the colours and size in the flowers. Colour can vary a lot. This rose is one I classify as drop-dead roses. It’s drop dead gorgeous no doubt, but it can just up and die for no apparent reason. It’s worth a go. Some do really well.

Rose Care
Are they easy to grow? .. and especially in Qld…. Yes they are. Water is the key.
Plant on a lovely rainy day for best results. Premium potting mix with a PH of 6 to 6.5 or Garden Soil enriched with compost or aged manure is most suitable. Protect from heat and frost, including reflective heat from hard or metal surfaces. Light coloured pots are desirable as they will reflect the heat. Terraotta will be more insulated. Ensure the plant has adequate water to stay evenly moist and refreshed. Roses love the morning sunlight and protection from harsh afternoon sun preferably although they do tolerate extreme heat; minimum requirement is 5 to 6 hours of good sunlight. Water well, mulch to maintain even dampness. Fertilisers best approx. 3 weeks after planting to avoid contact with emerging new roots. For more information on Rose Care please follow our online tips and tricks, fertiliser recipes or come along to Master Class for loads of helpful information to share from 44 years experience growing roses.

Likes & Dislikes
Likes: Love, Light and Water and especially rain, Feed little and often (They’re like hungry kids but not too much at once or they get a belly ache)
Dislikes: Glyphosate or Salt, Dry they tolerate to a point, too dry; they will die, Too much shade will kill a rose, Competition and crowding from other plants. Not a lot else will kill a rose. There are a few pests to watch out for. Diseases; rarely anything that can severely affect a rose.
