Fuchsia

Fuschia are easy to grow plants that love morning sun, mid-day shade, filtered late but no harsh sunlight or hot afternoon sun. The plant will surely suffer if it receives too much heat and sun. Protect from harsh winds and these are really easy plants to grow.

They love hanging baskets and they love evenly moist soil.
Do not allow the soil to dry between watering. It is best to be evenly moist all the time.
Fertilize the fuschia plant regularly for the best blooms. We use a fertiliser rich in nitrogen, potassium. Organic or inorganic; they don’t seem to care. Some recommended fertilisers will be sold in our nursery. Care with the fertiliser not to allow contact with the plant itself, spread evenly around the circumference of where the roots will be.

Remove the spent blooms for best results as blooms soon deplete the energy of the plant. Fertiliser after heavy blooming is always essential to bring the plant back to its’ full potential. Do not over fertilise as this will harm your plant. More often is better than more in quantity.

When the weather turns really cold protect the plant from cold and you may find it will go partially dormant. Slow up the fertiliser until it regains it’s new shoots in the springtime.

Absolutely gorgeous plants well worth collecting. Find them the right spot, give them love and water; occasional feed and they’re happy for life.
